PHDI Mission Statement
PHDI (Philippines Diving Instructors) is primarily a scuba diving federation based in the
Philippines that issues and delivers certified diving courses from various
existing diving organizations recognized worldwide. It is also an organization
that offers services with the aim of the protection and conservation of ocean
wild life and the preservation and rehabilitation of Filipino beaches.
PHDI is also a humanitarian organization, we regularly organizes medical
missions to various remote areas in the Philippines lacking direct access to
medical help and supplies.
Scuba Diving Program :
With the
exception of PADI certification, PHDI delivers and issues scuba diving
certified courses from various diving organizations recognized worldwide such
as:
RSTC
Since the
foundation of RSTC Europe back in 1994, many new innovations have taken place.
Minimum safety standards have been agreed by all members, for both diver and
instructor levels of education. This has led to a greater understanding between
member organizations and an increased level of credibility within the diving
industry, both on a European and a world-wide level.
Members affiliated
with RSTC Europe, include ACUC, BARAKUDA, NASDS, PSS, SNSI, IDEA Europe, PADI, PDA, SDI and SSI, as well as DAN as an
associate member in the position of "consultant". The influence of these member organizations span all European
countries as well as most of the Red Sea and the Maldives. The aim of RSTC is
to support the diving industry by all legitimate means, and to present a
professional forum that is both respected and recognized throughout the world
of recreational diving.
The expertise
within this group provides a non-prejudicial code of practice in diver safety
for all governmental bodies who are working to improve diving and safety
standards in Europe. This will in turn facilitate a consistent and efficient
standardization of regulations and laws related to the professional
recreational diving industry throughout Europe. By standardizing European and
global qualifications government bodies concerned with the level of competency
of the European instructor will have a recognizable qualification that has
international acceptance to relate to. With this in place it would allow a
diver to dive with a certificate which could be accepted world-wide. Having an
internationally recognized certification allows recreational diving to become
an accepted interest within the maritime and tourist community.
IDEA Europe & IDEA International
The IDEA (International Diving Educators Association) was the first
organization scuba diving structured to award patents in the USA. Founded in
1952 under the appellation of FSDA (Florida
Skin Diver Association), it was initially reserved for snorkeling, diving

When this activity has grown within the FSDA, Scuba Training Committee was founded.
Over time, the
importance of Scuba Training Committee has gone steadily growing, opening the
doors of the association in Florida Instructors other states, Jacksonville and
remains the cradle centre International thereof.
In 1978, given the growing number of instructors included in the
association and its internationalization, decision was made to formalize this
fact by a new appellation: IDEA.
In the years that followed, the IDEA has continuously intensified its
presence on the international scene of diving, participating in the founding of
the confederation Diving USA, RSTC
(Recreational Scuba Training Council), bringing together instructors
organizations the world's largest, and Universal

The
flexibility of 'Referral agreement' allows the candidate to share its training

the efforts of IDEA, NAUI, PDIC, SSI and YMCA Benefit customer and industry

Environmental Protection and Awareness Program :
PHDI is on a
mission to protect and preserve the natural ocean environment of the Philippines.
To accomplish this we provide awareness programs with the aim of educating and
sensitizing the locals as well as tourists in the protection and conservation
of the environment.
Our objectives:
- Involve users in the marine realm to protect the environment and its restocking since the main purpose of this reserve was to restore local heritage, is to allow endangered species to regain their natural density and a normal rate of reproduction.
- Being a working tool for
scientific research.
- Have an interest in teaching
and cultural awareness (reception classes,
groups).
- To provide an economic advantage:
Increase the interest of tourists
to the beaches.
- Increase the profitability of fishing
for small businesses.
As part of
the program we aim to construct a naturel reserve, which guarantees protection
and diversity, not only for animal and plant species, but also the natural
environment in which they live.
Our priorities would be :
• Preserve the original habitats and species diversity
• To control
human activities in order to
make use of the site that is consistent with the objectives of conservation;
• Promote
effective
"reserves" by
the establishment of protection measures
outside the site;
• Have an interest in teaching and cultural
awareness;
• Participate
in the maintenance of small-business/ small-scale fishing.
• Education and awareness
of children to protection of the marine environment is an
important task of the Natural Reserve. Facilitators and
offer them several educational
workshops focused
on the role of a Nature Reserve, the
knowledge of marine ecosystems,
the discovery of the seaside, gestures environmental
citizens, pollution
of the marine environment.
• Facilitators
Reserve
and
receive
regular
classes
in primary and
secondary.
• Conferences
for the general
public are also
proposed.
Humanitarian
Program :
As already
mentioned above, aside from the environmental awareness program PHDI has begun medical
outreaches to local villages and towns that do not have direct access to
medical attention and medicine.
The aim is
to apply first aid in accordance to what is allowed by the government.
With qualified
first aid volunteers, we hope to extend this service to other provinces of of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
